Maestro Carlos Moisés Michán Amiga was born on the 10th of October in 1945, at 3:30 PM, in Orizaba, Veracruz, México. He was named after his father, and his grandfather. He spent his childhood years in Veracruz, Mexico, and when he was a year and a half old his family moved to the capital of the country where he began his basic studies.
He was brought up in loving and social family environment, accustomed to celebrating Jewish holidays in the Hebrew tradition. It was during those early years where he learned Hebrew, English, Italian, French, and some Arabic.
Maestro Michán studied electromechanical engineering at UNAM at the end of 1968, which were hard times in the history of the country. As a college student he visited 13 countries in Europe and the Middle East. During these years he started developing a special interest for a different kind of science. This allowed him to see a thin interconnection in all aspects of existence.
In 1966, he was invited by his brothers to a ceremony at the Ashram de Cuautla, Morelos, where he met Maestro Dr. José Manuel Estrada Vásquez, who imprinted on him a permanent print of light. Maestro Carlos received the Initiation that allowed him to immerse in the yoga and meditation practice, but mainly to envision the pathway to continue to integrate the teachings he received and to be able to share them everywhere. Maestro Carlos Moisés Michán Amiga fully dedicates himself to this work utilizing the skills he gained during his preparation as an instructor around the world. He promotes and manages centers of Cosmobiology and yoga. He founded the First Cosmobiological College in México.
After his graduation as an engineer, and his dynamic learning skills at the esoteric classrooms, he studied hermeneutics, and taught in countries including Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Germany, England, France, Israel, and Switzerland. One of the trips where he gained exceptional wisdom was in 1981, when he travelled with his Maestro to India, Nepal, and Egypt.
Maestro Carlos has helped to create cultural centers, yoga institutes, and Ashrams in South America, and in Europe. He studied Education Sciences at Long Island University, in the US, where he received his university degree. Following his superiors’ guidance he got immersed on the sacred knowledge of the native traditions from every country he visited.
Maestro Carlos received acknowledgment in the Vipasana Meditation Technique from the head of the Monastery of Thailand in the Theravada Buddhism tradition.
Instead of withdrawing from the world in solitude after his years of travels, he continues to share his truth everywhere that is welcomed. He takes the opportunity to teach at every place he goes. From 1991-1999 he became a bilingual math professor in NY.
Currently, Maestro Michán is the Rector of S.O.S.C.I. and he is known as El Maestro Carlos M. Michan. He has learned to face life in a friendly way, and with ease, and he understands, and communicates, through specific techniques, that conscious development begins with living each moment fully.
His teachings and spiritual lineage come from the tradition of sages and elders, spiritual guides, and both western and eastern schools of thought. He is also interested in the search for peace. He participated as one of the main organizers at the Global Conference for Human Unity in 1978, in Barcelona, Spain; gathering experts from diverse fields such as art, science and religion. The president of this conference was The Elder Brother, Dr. José Manuel Estrada Vázquez.
Maestro Michán was recognized as a teacher by Maestro Domingo Dias Porta, a high level living initiate from Venezuela. He is married to María Isabel Portillo, he has 4 children, and he has 5 nephews. They all live in the USA.
